Sure! Not everyone feels comfortable going solo their first time on a stand up paddle board. We have experienced SUP'ers that will give you some basic instruction before you ever get on the board, then paddle along with you and provide additional tips and direction to help you feel confident and enjoy your experience.
There is no guarantee, but most people usually don't fall in. The more you can relax and get comfortable on the board, the less likely that you will fall. Also keeping your head forward and your eyes on the horizon will help. Trying to look behind you or down at your feet will disrupt your balance and make it more difficult to stay upright.
We suggest wearing what ever is most comfortable to you. Everything from swimsuits to work out clothes to shorts and T-shirts are well suited for SUP. During the winter, it might be necessary to wear tights, gloves and reef booties to help stay warm.
What do I need to bring?
We recommend bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, water, towel, dry clothes, a water resistant watch and a desire to have fun stand up paddling.
